Wisconsin Marketing Graduate Degree Programs

University of Wisconsin
The University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee’s Sheldon B. Lubar School of Business awards the Master of Science (MS) in Marketing to students who successfully complete the 30 credit program. Marketing students without a business background may be required to take four additional credits in business mathematics and business statistics. The MBA program is divided into core courses, worth 18 credits, and 12 credits of electives. Core courses focus on consumer behavior, marketing research, marketing strategy, and internet marketing. Electives cover the gamut: internet marketing, marketing management, and e-business. Seminars in current topics are also offered for three credits. Teaching assistantships may be available for eligible students and include tuition remission, lower healthcare costs, and a salary.

Concordia University Wisconsin
Concordia University Wisconsin’s Global Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a marketing concentration allows students to earn their degree through intensive courses on campus, off campus at learning centers throughout the state, or online. Courses, which run in eight week sessions, are held once a week in an accelerated format. Unlike many MBA programs, applicants do not have to submit GMAT scores nor is there a thesis a degree requirement. The MBA program curriculum is broken into two components: 24 credits in core business courses and 15 credits in marketing courses, such as international marketing, legal aspects of business, social marketing strategies, and sales management.

Wisconsin Marketing Undergraduate Degree Programs

Marquette University
Marquette University’s Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) with a marketing concentration caters to undergraduates who want to pursue a career in marketing or to continue on to graduate study. The marketing major requires students to fulfill 27 credits, which include electives, in such topics as marketing research, business to business marketing, sports marketing, direct marketing, and marketing and society. Marketing majors generally complete an internship for three credits. The Marquette-ing Club is a student-run marketing club that hosts networking, social, and other events throughout the year and is open to all marketing and business majors. The university is also home to other business-related student organizations: Beta Alpha Psi, Collegiate Entrepreneurs of Marquette, Go-Getters, The International Business Student Organization, and Women in Business.

Lakeland College
Lakeland College offers a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Marketing program at several of its centers throughout Wisconsin, including Chippewa Valley, Green Bay, Madison, and Milwaukee. Students can also complete their coursework exclusively online. The 120 credit undergraduate program requires marketing majors to complete 36 hours in general coursework encompassing religious studies, American and world history, American government, and interdisciplinary studies. Students will then focus on marketing core courses and electives, such as marketing management, business law, retail management, accounting principles, and marketing principles. Lakeland College features “Blend Ed,” a unique opportunity that allows students to complete their classes on campus and online, studying on campus one week and online the next week depending on their schedules. Students must enroll in the Blend Ed program to participate.

Student Review: “I went for my bachelor’s at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. I took a lot of public relations classes, which strongly relates to marketing. In my classes, I created mock PR campaigns by taking a company (such as Wolverine Boots) and creating an event with Habitat for Humanity. These classes truly helped build my portfolio that I still give to employers at job interviews today. Another class that really helped me was Media Law. I have a strong grasp on popular cases and situations that occur in this field of study. There is nothing more important than protecting yourself and the company you work for. There were some classes that were in big lecture halls with student aids in the lab classes. Those were the least helpful classes, as there wasn’t much of a one on one interaction. It felt like the student aid was the middle man to my future. Other than that, I had a wonderful experience and pushed through college in three years just so I could get to the actual field quicker. Student Review: “The UW-Milwaukee marketing program was a decent program that allowed me to get a background in all aspects of marketing that I would experience once I entered the job force. The program was very geared toward my major, and emphasized real life applications rather than spending lots of time on the academia behind this. This afforded me the luxury to have more practical skills than some of my contemporaries once I was hired and onsite at my first job. The one thing that I would say needs to be worked on is the university as a whole. As much as the marketing classes were very well set up for success in the field, the university seems to run inefficiently. Many times I had to catch errors the staff made on registrations, grading, and my scholarships and grants.
