Virginia Marketing Graduate Degree Programs

University of Virginia
Graduate students in the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business working toward a Master of Business Administration (MBA) can specialize their degree by choosing two tracks, including consumer marketing, business-to-business marketing, and market analytics. The MBA program uses a case method approach, in which students discuss real business problems and develop solutions, rather than classes revolving around a professor’s lecture. The two-year MBA program requires graduate students to complete core MBA courses during the first year covering marketing, management, accounting and business ethics while turning their focus to their concentration the second year. Students also have the opportunity to participate in several global business programs during their second year, including participating in an exchange program or the Global Business Experience, in which students go abroad for classes and meetings with industry leaders during their spring or winter break.

Virginia Tech
Virginia Tech confers the Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a marketing concentration to graduate students who successfully complete the full-time 52 credit program. Successful applicants generally maintain a 3.46 undergraduate GPA and scored an average 626 on the GMAT exam. The program, which takes 22 months to complete, requires students to complete core business courses the first year while concentrating on marketing the second year. Marketing majors will take 15 credits to fulfill their concentration requirements, including product strategy, promotion strategy, international marketing strategy, and marketing, management, and the public purpose in addition to one elective. MBA students may participate in a mentoring program with Virginia Tech alumnae, which allows graduate students to develop relationships, one-on-one, with successful graduates and business people by attending social events, meetings, and seminars.

Virginia Marketing Undergraduate Degree Programs

George Mason University
George Mason University awards the Bachelor of Science (BS) in Marketing and allows students to concentrate in internet marketing resiliency. The concentration provides students with a foundation in networks and security, internet marketing, and competitive intelligence and information security. All marketing majors must complete several core marketing courses: marketing management, consumer behavior, and marketing research techniques and applications. Global opportunities are available to business students who want to study or intern abroad in such global locations as London, Germany, and China. Marketing majors can also become involved in one of the many on-campus organizations: the American Marketing Association, Alpha Kappa Psi, the International Business Organization, the Mason Consulting Club, and the Mason Entrepreneurs.

Virginia Commonwealth University
Virginia Commonwealth University features a 120 credit undergraduate program leading to the Bachelor of Science (BS) in Marketing. Students may choose to specialize in one of several tracks: traditional marketing mix, distribution, marketing communications, international marketing, retailing, and marketing technology. Tracks are not listed on the student’s degree. Marketing majors are invited to join the VCU chapter of the American Marketing Association, which hosts speakers, networking, and educational events throughout the year.
