Maryland Marketing Graduate Degree Programs

Johns Hopkins University
Johns Hopkins Carey School of Business in Baltimore features a full-time 36 credit M.S. in Marketing program, designed to prepare graduate students to become experts and leaders in the marketing field. Students in the program have little to no work experience. The graduate program is divided into three parts: seven business foundation courses (business law and business communications), three core foundation courses (strategic marketing, consumer behavior, and marketing research), and eight marketing elective classes (entrepreneurial marketing and digital marketing and social media). Students with professional work experience may opt for the part-time M.S. in Marketing program, offered in both Washington D.C. and in Baltimore. The program curriculum is the same as the full-time M.S. in Marketing program.

University of Maryland
The University of Maryland University College awards the M.S. in Management (MSM) with a marketing specialization to graduate students who successfully complete the 36 credit program. The graduate program requires students to complete five required courses and seven marketing courses, including a capstone course. Students will enroll in the capstone course once 24 credits and all core requirements have been completed. The capstone course will assess what students have learned in the program and further their understanding of key marketing and business concepts, using academic texts, case studies, and through participating in a “Business Game Strategy” simulation.

Maryland Marketing Undergraduate Degree Programs

University of Maryland
The University of Maryland’s B.S. in Marketing degree prepares undergraduates to embark on a marketing career or to continue on to graduate study. The 120 credit program requires students to complete general college electives as well as foundational and upper division marketing courses, encompassing such topics as design in marketing, retail management, business policies, and international marketing. Marketing majors generally complete a summer internship worth between three and six credits with past students landing positions at the Washington Post, Southwest Airlines, and the Cartoon Network. Many of those interns went on to work for the company full-time after graduation. terpAMA, the University of Maryland branch of the American Marketing Association provides marketing students with networking, educational, and social opportunities. Graduates of the University of Maryland have secured employment at Pfizer, Johnson & Johnson, and Black & Decker.

Loyola University Maryland
Loyola University Maryland in Baltimore offers a Bachelor of Business (BBA) with the marketing major. Marketing majors fulfill foundation and upper division marketing courses, which include hands-on-projects, case analysis, and computer applications to prepare students for a career in marketing. Students generally complete a 150 hour marketing internship for credit and can participate in a two week international marketing tour of Europe. Students must hold a minimum 2.5 GPA and meet course requirements to enroll in the international tour. Marketing majors can join the Loyola Marketing Association, which frequently hosts networking and social events as well as provides assistance with finding employment. Academically eligible students may be invited to join the National Marketing Honor Society of Mu Kappa Tau or the National Business Honor Society of Beta Gamma Sigma. Graduates of the B.S. in Marketing program have landed employment with Kraft General Foods, the Baltimore Orioles, Eastman Kodak, and Aetna Insurance Company.
