Illinois Marketing Graduate Degree Programs

DePaul University
DePaul University’s Driehaus School of Business allows graduate students to earn a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a concentration in one of six areas of marketing: general marketing, brand and product management, business development, consumer insights, marketing strategy and planning, and strategic global marketing. Graduate students are encouraged to choose a track based on their individual career and educational goals. The MBA in Marketing program requires students to take six classes worth 36 total credits, which is generally broken down to four core courses and two electives depending on the concentration. Graduate students have access to the MBA Career Management Center, which offers internship leads, networking opportunities, and meet and greets with hiring companies. The MBA program also allows students to join study abroad seminar trips with past students visiting France, Hong Kong, the Czech Republic, and India.

University of Illinois
The University of Illinois offers a full-time Master of Business Administration (MBA) program with a concentration in marketing. The graduate program features a heavy emphasis on marketing management, understanding consumer needs, consumer research, and promotional strategy. Graduate students are encouraged to get involved in experiential learning, which takes them outside of the classroom and puts them in real life situations that require their marketing expertise. The Global Consulting Program, for example, provides students with opportunities to travel overseas during winter or spring break to work on consulting projects in such countries as Brazil, South Africa, India, and China. Illinois Business Consulting, the Academy for Entrepreneurial Leadership, and the Illinois MBA Non-Profit Outreach also offer experiential learning opportunities for MBA students.

Illinois Marketing Undergraduate Degree Programs

Northern Illinois University
Undergraduate students at Northern Illinois University who pursue a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Marketing can choose between two specializations: interactive marketing and professional sales. The College of Business allows students to customize their bachelor’s degree by taking electives in a specific area, such as strategic marketing and international marketing. The program generally takes four years for completion, with students sitting five classes a semester. All marketing majors must complete a portfolio of their work, which they will submit to the College of Business prior to graduation. Students will compile their best work from the marketing courses they’ve completed that demonstrates their in-depth knowledge of eight different learning objectives, such as understanding marketing concepts, marketing metrics, written communications skills, and problem solving and critical thinking.

Southern Illinois University
Southern Illinois University confers the Bachelor of Science (BS) in Marketing to students who successfully complete the 120 credit undergraduate program, which traditionally takes four years. Undergraduate students will complete a menu of core marketing and elective courses in a variety of topics: brand management, business to business marketing, advertising management, physical distribution management, and services marketing. The program allows students to customize their degree by choosing electives in their particular area of interest in marketing. Marketing majors can also become involved in the campus community, joining the College of Business Leadership Council, the on-campus chapter of the American Marketing Association, and Pi Sigma Epsilon.
