The marketing department faculty trains PhD candidates in theory and practice of marketing through formal coursework as well as individual and small-group research opportunities. The program emphasizes the significance of a close-knit learning environment so that both students and faculty can grow intellectually and professionally. Thus, the program ensures personal interaction between faculty and students through joint research, speaker series, and social gatherings. Students enrolled in the PhD program must complete 90 credit hours of graduate work, including 60 hours beyond the master’s level. The marketing aspect of the program requires a minimum of 15 credit hours, which can be fulfilled by taking Seminar in Marketing Strategy, Seminar in Marketing Theory, Seminar in Buyer Behavior, and an additional six hours in an elective marketing seminar. PhD candidates are expected to successfully defend a marketing dissertation in order to complete the program and earn a degree.
