Ohio Marketing Graduate Degree Programs

Ohio State University
Graduate marketing students at Ohio State University’s Fisher College of Business have the unique opportunity to complete a marketing major within the college’s full-time MBA program. The prestigious full-time MBA program prepares students for leadership roles in the business world and attracts recruiters from sought-after companies such as Procter & Gamble, Coca Cola, Hewlett-Packard, Kimberly Clark, General Mills, Nestle, and SC Johnson. The program is intentionally small in size so that students can benefit from an intimate learning experience and a close-knit community. Students receive individualized attention from professors and participate in action-based learning that provides them with hands-on business experience. MBA marketing majors enroll in three semester hours of base courses (either Marketing Research and Analytics or Consumer Behavior) and nine semester hours of marketing electives. Marketing elective offerings include Advertising Strategy and Management, Digital Marketing, Promotions Management, Innovative Practice and New Product Development, Consumer Psychology, Global Marketing and Sustainability, Customer Satisfaction and Loyalty Analysis, and Marketing Strategy, the capstone course. Within the marketing major, MBA students can opt for either a brand management track or a marketing communications track.

University of Cincinnati
Students enrolled in the University of Cincinnati’s Lindner College of Business have multiple options for graduate study in marketing. Students may choose to enroll in an MBA program or to pursue a Master of Science degree in marketing. The MBA program has full-time, part-time, and accelerated tracks, which allows for students to complete the degree at a pace that works best for them. For ultimate flexibility, students can combine courses on different University of Cincinnati campuses and can take up to five years to complete the degree. MBA students take 12 credit hours of foundation courses and 24 credit hours of the MBA core. Courses include Managerial Economics, Leadership in Organizations, Marketing for Managers, and Corporate Legal and Social Responsibility. MBA students can use elective courses to earn a graduate certificate in Marketing or Market Research. The MS in Marketing program is designed for graduate students who want a more specialized degree. MS – Marketing students learn skills in all core areas of marketing including strategy, research, branding, consumer behavior, product management, and international issues. The program emphasizes experiential learning and includes field-study opportunities. It is designed to accommodate the needs of students from both business and non-business backgrounds.

The department of marketing at Cleveland State University offers a Bachelor of Business Administration degree for undergraduate marketing majors. Housed by CSU’s Monte Ahuja College of Business, the department of marketing is committed to providing an experiential learning environment in which students can gain applied knowledge and first-hand experience in the professional world. Undergraduate students engage with industry leaders and business entities through the department’s Partner Firm Internship Program. Through the program, high-achieving students are matched with high profile or high growth Cleveland companies to assist with their marketing departments. Marketing majors can specialize in one of four areas of study by taking the corresponding elective courses. Undergraduate marketing majors at the University of Ohio College of Business prepare for careers in international marketing, business-to-business marketing, advertising, retailing, sales, marketing research, or product management. The marketing department’s mission statement is to maximize stakeholder value. In this case, maximizing value means providing the best possible educational experience for students and providing employers with the best-qualified candidates for marketing and sales positions. Marketing majors are required to complete at least 24 credit hours in upper-level marketing courses. All marketing majors are required to take Marketing Strategy, Marketing Research, Professional Selling Techniques, and Marketing Principles. The remaining credit requirements may be met with marketing electives such as Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Services Marketing, Management of Promotion, Sales Management, Achieving Customer Satisfaction, and Advanced Selling Techniques. The only reason I did not rank it a 5 is because Ohio State lacked when it came to job placement. Students are really on their own to find a job, internship or work experience. Many courses were taught by graduate assistants and few courses tried to develop practical, desirable job skills. Great university in a great town if college life is a priority.
