Florida Marketing Graduate Degree Programs

Florida State University
Florida State University provides two options for students interested in pursuing a Master of Science in Marketing (MSM): The one-year masters program and a five-year joint B.S./M.S. in Marketing program. The one-year MSM program is competitive, with most applicants possessing greater qualifications than the required minimum 3.0 undergraduate GPA and minimum 530 GMAT score. Students can begin the program in the fall, spring, or summer semester. The 33 credit curriculum requires graduate students to take core marketing courses as well as corporate reputation courses, such as business ethics and social responsibility and corporate affairs management. All MSM graduate students must complete a corporate reputation internship. Past students have interned on campus at the College of Business and in the University Relations Department as well as off campus at public relations firms and lobbying firms.

University of Tampa
Graduate students awarded The University of Tampa’s Master of Science in Marketing degree will be prepared for both a degree in marketing and to sit the Professional Certified Marketer exam administered by the American Marketing Association. The 45 credit graduate program encompasses core business and marketing courses and elective marketing classes, including sports marketing, marketing law, and marketing on the cutting edge. Graduate students may also complete an independent study, in which they research a topic in-depth, or an internship for credit. Select full-time MSM students may be invited to complete an assistantship in exchange for a partial tuition waiver. All students are also encouraged to become involved in activities and organizations run by the Business Department, including the business honor societies (for eligible students) Beta Gamma Sigma and Beta Alpha Psi.

Florida Marketing Undergraduate Degree Programs

Florida International University
Marketing majors at Florida International University will earn the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Marketing upon successfully completing 60 lower division and 60 upper division credits in general college courses and business and marketing courses. Students will develop the foundation needed for a successful career in marketing by completing such required core courses as “Marketing Yourself in Today’s Competitive Job Market.” The program also offers students the opportunity to study a wide range of marketing topics: export marketing, cyber marketing, e-marketing, and marketing of small business enterprises. Students are also encouraged to complete the Cooperative Education in Marketing course, in which they work full-time at a local company and write a paper detailing their experience for credit. Florida International University is home to more than 10 business clubs, allowing marketing majors to become involved in the American Marketing Association, business honor societies, and the Future Business Leaders of America.

Florida Memorial University
Florida Memorial University offers a 122 credit undergraduate program leading to the Bachelor of Science in Marketing. Students generally take five to six classes each semester, with their final semester requiring only 12 credits, including a senior project in business. All undergraduate students in the School of Business must intern with a local organization and take a seminar that teaches the finer points of writing an effective cover letter, creating a dynamic resume, and preparing for a successful job interview. The Business Department also offers scholarships to students, who are encouraged to actively apply and seek out funding for their academic studies.

Student Review: “The University of South Florida’s marketing major program provided me with an excellent educational experience. The business college has a very good reputation in terms of exposing undergraduates to a wide variety of relevant and interesting business topics. The marketing program at USF (University of South Florida) has the benefit of having both the curriculum and professors that can prepare students for real world business situations. While I found that the coursework and group projects were very beneficial, unfortunately many professors are not as accessible as one would hope given such a well-designed program. Additionally, given the dismal local economy (Tampa Bay metropolitan area), the university has a limited number of opportunities for students to work with local businesses, internships and partnerships. This is a major disadvantage for future employment and networking with alumni. Overall, I felt that the marketing program prepared me for most marketing-related positions and having a greater understanding of challenges faced by today’s companies.
